Smart Daddy

Ever since Ben was born (2 months ago) we have been trying to minimize how much formula we give him. It's our goal to have him 100% breastfed for as long as possible. I've been taking fenugreek capsules for 11 days now, and we're down to 4 oz of formula a day. That's pretty amazing because he eats so much!!
Well, last night was going to be the "breakthrough", because we went all day without formula. My problem was that I spent an hour trying to get him to sleep, and he would wake up 2-5 minutes after I'd put him to sleep. I had a theory that maybe he's teething early, but daddy knew better.
While I was struggling with Ben (and myself), Jeff warmed up a bottle of formula. Jeff came into the nursery at 11 and started feeding him. The poor baby guzzled it down like he hadnt been fed in days!!

so... he's not teething, and i have to learn that it's ok to give him formula. It's hard because I want to feed him but cant. I hope it doesnt take me long to either make enough milk, or be more willing to feed him formula. ughhh! this is hard.

Our little Ben fell asleep in daddy's arms by 11:30, and slept all night, waking up at 7:30. That's 8 hours non-stop!!!!

Great job, Daddy!

  1. Great job Jeff! Also, some of it might be the fact that if he is use to have a bottle before going to sleep and you are now trying to EBF before bed it might be throwing a loop in his routine (amazing how they get into a routine already!). I wonder if you try BM in a bottle if it would have the same effect. I also need to understand that it is okay to give the baby formula. I am not quite to that point yet but I think the time is coming soon.
